Film Teaser
The Anamnesis short film premiered in Tehran, Iran December 2019 during our week-long show in beautiful nopa House, a space dedicated to modern and Danish design. The film follows Nazanin Sadr Azodi from New York to Iran. Viewers will journey through three tribal women in different villages across the Iranian plateau – home to civilization since 4000 B.C. In each village, they will visit the modest home of weavers where these magnificent pieces are made, experience how these women live, sing their songs, spin their yarn and warp their looms.
Audiences will join these women to weave a piece that manifests a personal memory of great significance – a story they wish to share with the world.
The Persian rug may not be long for this world. Through this unique project, Anamnesis aims to connect the collective memory around these timeless works of art to the stories of the women behind them, and to their power as creators – the disregard of whose craft and contribution being a significant cause behind its continued demise.
